All Moved To Connecticut!

Well we are finally feeling like we have completed the move to Connecticut! We have unpacked and put everything away, we are finding grocery stores, parks, and places to shop and eat. Somehow I don't really have any pictures of our new apartment, but you can get the idea from this one. The building to the left side of the window is what the complex looks like, four huge buildings with four floors each (ground level garage parking underneath each building). We are in the middle of the city and surrounded by buildings, trees, and urban stuff. The area is mostly flat except for the huge rock thing that you see outside our windows (all windows face the same direction so we just see this view). Apparently this is West Rock (how creative) and then there is another one on the other side of town and that is East Rock, each one has a state park and assorted outside stuff since you obviously cannot build on them!
We haven't really met any of our neighbors, it isn't really that sort of place. Niya and I went to the story time at the library and made some (maybe) new friends. Kevin is busy with school and Niya and I just wander around here or at the park across the street or out and about.
Thanks to everyone for being supportive of this big adventure! We know we are crazy far away (trust us... we know!), but so far we are enjoying the adventure and all the new things to see and do. Hopefully we will see some of you soon!! :)

First Time on a Swing :)

I have been meaning to post these for some time... the last visit with Gramma and Papa we took Niya to a wonderful park on the island and put her on the swings for the first time (we have been waiting for Daddy to go with us). I think it is fair to say that she LOVED it! Don't you just love what swinging does for this hair!!

Bath Time Hair!!

I'm really not sure any caption is necessary! :)

Leavenworth With Our Wonderful Friends Nick, Molly & Abby

None of us had ever visited Leavenworth WA, so we decided to make a weekend out of it and spend some time with our wonderful friends Nick, Molly, and Abby! Here are a few pictures from our big adventure...

First Word?!?

Niya's babbling is beginning to sound like words...
Has she said the first word? We aren't sure!
Here is what we are currently hearing:

Dadadadada to Daddy (and to the dresser, Mommy, and whatever else)

ktss to the cat, but sometimes she just yells in their faces

pththth (put tongue between lips and blow gently-no lip flapping) usually said at times Mommy would say "Shhhhh"

Dah or Doh a response when asked if "All Done"

Hi sometimes said at the right time

HiDa sometimes said to Daddy

NumNumNum said with lots of lip smacking, when she eats

And then the other day I was sitting in the bedroom with Grammy and Niya was pointing to things and I was naming them. She pointed to the "BOB" stroller and I said "that's Bob" and Niya thought for a moment and then she looked at Grammy and me and said... Bob!
Or the time that I handed her a spatula in the kitchen saying "Here Squeek have a spatula" and she said with a pleased smile and a little slur "spasla"!

So we really can't tell... when do these count?!? We aren't trying to be picky, we just don't want to be those people who say "Guess what?! My kid is talking and he says 'dog' all the time... It sounds just like this...'Gu!'"

The First Shopping Cart!

We are getting ready to use the big new car seat, so we have been taking Niya into grocery stores and restaurants without her baby seat and getting used to using the carts and high chairs that they provide... here is her FIRST experience in a shopping cart, she was really excited and knew it was a big deal! :)
looking all around...

look! I'm big! :D

I'm holding on... I'm ready!

Big Grumpy Bear... And Little Grumpy Bear

Daddy has been doing "Big Grumpy Bear" with Niya for months now; where he stomps toward her growling and looking fierce and saying "Here comes the big grumpy bear... THE BIG GRUMPY BEAR_GRrrrrr" Usually they will play this after a diaper change and she will crawl across the bed and try to get away! There is always lots of giggling and laughing! The other day Niya was in her high chair and out came the "Big Grumpy Bear"... but then we sure were surprised to find the "Little Grumpy Bear"!!! Just watch, you will see what I mean! :)
