Trip To The Beach

We spent Thanksgiving weekend at the coast. We were lucky Saturday to have really great weather so we decided to take Niya to the beach for the first time. We walked down with Gramma, Papa, and Niya's cousins Hailey, Brayden, and Riley.

A Little Thanksgiving Drumming (No Drumsticks)!

At Thanksgiving, Papa gave Niya her first African drumming lesson. Which went pretty well until she decided that she wanted to taste the drum! :)

Peeking Out!

We just put these new breathable mesh bumpers on Niya's crib to keep her from getting tangled up all the time (she just loves to stick body parts through the bars). But there are still 4 openings in the corners... so I wasn't all that surprised when this is what I find when I go in to get her from her afternoon nap!

Silly Baby!

Hair

I always said I wanted a baby with "Duck fluff" hair. I guess you have to watch what you wish for!! Here is Niya's current hair style...

Notice the few wispy extra long pieces, that is her very own variation on the usual all one length duck fluff style. Most of her hair is about 1/2 an inch long but these long ones are about 3 inches or more... they just float around for extra effect! :D

Of course all of this is only on the top in sort of a mohawk all down the middle.
Ta Da!
That's our girl... one unique individual... with all her own style!

Awww!

How cute are those?!! :)

Jumparoo

Niya loves her Jumparoo. It is this crazy toy that lets her jump all over the place and comes with all these attached toys. Our friends call it the "chair of insanity". I have to agree, she gets pretty crazy!

Like Father, Like Daughter :)

The Camera Strap

Every time I use the camera Niya just wants to play with the strap, so I finally just let her and caught some really cute shots in the process.

Hmmm what is this?...

I like it!

I can almost reach it....

I got it!

The camera strap is such a fascinating toy!

Mommy and Niya all dressed up!

Sitting

Things are getting much better with this whole sitting thing. Now Niya pretty much sits up on her own. She will play and correct herself as she is falling over... but you still have to watch her because all of a sudden she will do a total face plant. She doesn't seem to get upset but it is rather alarming! Watch, you will see just what I mean...

So, Um... how do you put pillows to avoid that?!? Maybe we need a helmet!! :)

Almost Sitting (a few weeks ago)

Niya is just figuring out this whole sitting thing...

Watch her in action...

A bit more Halloween (a bit late but whatever!)

We had a pretty eventful Halloween! Niya was just old enough to enjoy it and still really small and cute. She was the only baby in the bunch who stayed awake during the trick-or-treating. First Niya and I went down to Winslow with the rest of the mommies in my mommy group. When we got home, Kev was done with his Saturday class so the three of us piled in the car and drove to Tacoma to trick-or-treat with Nathaniel, Katie, and Alyssa. They really get into Halloween and decorate their house with all the cool decorations. Their neighborhood is one of those old school ones where everyone is out walking around and trick-or-treating, it was loads of fun!
Down on Winslow with a billion other people

My and my little Heffalump!

Let's go!

One Tough Cookie! :)

At the Halloween party that we went to they had baby tattoos... so who could resist. I figured that with the little faux-hawk (she still pretty much only has hair on top, down the middle) that Niya is growing, she should have one of those very tough bicep tattoos!

So here she is looking Tough!

And... that is about how long tough lasted! :)
*Yes the tattoo does say "Mom" in a heart, I feel so loved :)

The Worlds Littlest Elephant

One of our friends threw a Halloween party last weekend, so we got to dress up our little elephant and take her to the party. The little ones where soooo cute! I cannot wait to dress her up again on Halloween... I hope to have more pictures then, but here are a few to get you started!

On the Move!!!

Niya just figured out how to roll over from her front to her back on Tuesday... then today she put it all together. She can now go across the room pretty quickly when she want to! I spent today chasing her around and mourning the loss of actually finding her where I left her! :)

Of course the camera was a little distracting... but here it is in action!

Opinions About Food

Niya is showing some opinion about her food for the first time. She loves her rice cereal, her avocados, yams, and bananas... but peas... No thanks mom!

She doesn't even want to swallow!

The New Tooth Brush

Niya doesn't have any teeth yet. But has started drooling and sticking everything in her mouth and sometimes seems like she is in the beginning phases of teething... So, when at the dentist for me, I asked for a toothbrush for Niya. She loves this little brush! It has rubber teething stuff on the back and the handle and then little short soft bristles. She plays with this almost every day and will choose it over other toys! What a silly kid! Our dentist would be so proud!! :)

Niya "brushing" away

Very pleased with herself

Ooh tooth brushes are scratchy!

Dental hygiene is very important... we get started even before the teeth!
