How funny

I just looked at the link for week 23 and "Blueberry" (shown in our ultrasound) is in that exact position most of the time, and the 3D picture shows a baby with an arm over its face just like "Blueberry" was in the ultrasound... it must be a common position.

New Websites

So I have been telling all of you about these new websites that have such amazing baby stuff... I finally figured out how to post them as links from the blog. Have fun looking!! :)

"Blueberry's" Photo Shoot

Here are the two "Blueberry" pictures taken at the ultra sound.

The first one is of the profile looking at the side of the head (well actually a cross section through the skull, so that isn't an ear, it is part of the the brain). You can see the profile of the back of the head (white curve at the bottom of the photo) and of the forehead and nose (at the middle of the picture). The lower part of the face is a little blurred because "Blueberry" insisted on keeping one arm/hand in front of his/her mouth the entire time and moving it around. We actually couldn't get the really cool 3D shot because of this... and the tech really tried! :) Even when she had to chase "Blueberry" around to get the right position, that little arm stayed put! It was really funny to watch. And the face was all pressed up against the placenta so that is the rest of the blurry stuff in front of the baby's face.

the second picture is (obviously) of a foot! And, we think the other part in the picture is a little curled up hand... but that is open to debate!

We got the DVD too, but that could reveal the sex of the baby accidentally, so we are not watching it until after we know. Well, so far we have not watched it, yet, but it does make the temptation a little more challenging! That part is supposed to be left off the video (if the tech pressed stop at the right time) but you never know... so she warned us it was a watch at your own risk decision.

A few belly shots...

Here is the belly progress that has been made... !
:) These were taken in the first week of month 6 (23 weeks).

Our First Family Photos!

So, Finally here is a picture of all of us. Mommy, Daddy, and "Baby Blueberry" (in belly of course). As you can see, things are getting Bigger! :)

1+ Pound of Perfect

So our ultra sound yesterday was amazing... we have one perfect baby. Everything looks great... and we got to see everything (sex was revealed, but only to the tech who made us close our eyes). Our baby is really nice and wiggly... we know we have 10 fingers and 10 toes and everything is where it is supposed to be. We were able to look at the babies heart and to see all the chambers moving the blood around just as they should. Our "Blueberry" was in a nice reclining position with one hand/arm behind its head and the other over its eyes... imagine a person laying in a hammock in the shade on a warm day... "Blueberry" looked very relaxed!! "Blueberry" changes directions often but the main position stays the same almost the whole time. Sometimes legs stretched out and sometimes curled up but always cozy and reclined! :) And always able to kick mommy and make her feel like she has to pee! So, mostly head up and feet down at this point (breech position) according to baby lingo. Apparently, the baby can roll over and into a head down birth position up until the very end, so nothing to worry about there. I should be able to post some pictures and more information soon... :)

Why "Baby Blueberry"...

I realized the other day that some of you may not know the reason for our nickname of "baby blueberry" so let me explain...

At 7 wks we looked on line to see how the baby was developing and what it had accomplished so far. During our research we learned that the baby was about the size of a blueberry and growing quickly (click on the blueberry information link to the right and go to week 7 you'll see what we mean)! In support of our decision to wait until the birth to determine the sex of our baby we knew we would need a nickname in order to avoid calling the baby "IT" all the time. So... it seemed to stick when we said "so far our baby is just a tiny blueberry.... Baby Blueberry!"

For all of you critics... we know our baby is now much larger than a blueberry, and we know that we don't actually want it to look like a blueberry (any memories of the girl in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for anyone else at this moment), yes pink is the preferred skin color, arms and legs are expected, etc....

But for now, our little one is fondly known as "Baby Blueberry" until a gender and name are officially determined!

Oh, I do have to tell you a funny story attached to this nickname.... I was talking with Auntie C and in getting off the phone I said something like "well, the blueberry and I are going to go finish baking"... and she said "Oh, like blueberry muffins! to which I quickly responded "Oh, No! there are not enough blueberries in here for muffins... just one blueberry thank you!" Hee Hee

Ultrasound Today!

Today we are headed to the doctor for an ultrasound of our little "Blueberry". I hope to be able to post pictures soon... of the belly and the "Blueberry"!

We are also excited to see Gramma Rhonda and Papa who are coming up for the ultrasound as well and to visit for the weekend. Yippee!

Fun with "Auntie C"

We had so much fun with "Auntie C" she was so very helpful to me as a soon to be mommy. I now have a nice list of essentials and feel not quite so scattered about what to buy and what to have ready. We also had some wonderful talks and enjoyed a bunch of laughs ;)

We're so glad that she was able to visit us and stay a few days... even though we would have loved to keep her... we know here "boys" really missed her  and she will be glad to be home.

Blueberry says: Come back soon "Auntie C" I promise to let you snuggle me next time (if we don't see you until I'm out of course)! :)

Mommy and "Baby Blueberry" check out the mud...

My grandfather and his wife Lena were living in this trailer park in Sumner when it flooded these past few weeks. the water from the river on the left was up over where my belly is in the picture by the river. To the right of me (same picture) you can see the four feet of mud that the river left. It was a total mess!
We are so glad that Great Grandpa and Lena don't live there anymore!

I guess you can say that this was "Blueberry's" first time playing in the mud! I'm not sure how much fun was had... but it was an adventure and made Daddy very worried.

Everything is Good!

We saw our midwife Tuesday and had our checkup!
Everything is good... "Baby Blueberry" is growing and we are all healthy. We get to see the baby again on Jan. 23rd at an ultra sound appointment so we are pretty excited about that! :)

In the mean time we are completely content with all the little bumps and nudges that our baby is giving us almost daily now. We do have a little night owl who wakes up about 10:30 and likes to give us a few swift kicks just to see if we are paying attention or heaven forbid already asleep. But we cannot complain, we are happy to have the communication after such a long wait!

As I was telling aunt Christine, I am very excited to be the human fish bowl and to feel our little one "swimming" around. Sort of the feeling of having eaten a large live goldfish who is growing daily and bumping into the walls of the "tank" all the time. What a cool feeling!

Ahhhh, Grapefruit Juice is sooooo goood!!!

Okay, so the "blueberry" cannot seem to get enough grapefruit juice lately. That is the latest craving.... I have to limit myself to small glasses OFTEN. I guess I must need vitamin C or something.  :)

And I am making myself walk to the store to get a new jug every so often... thankfully (oddly) grapefruit juice is on sale at Safeway... how nice!

But, thanks to us... they are now out! Bummer!!

19 weeks and counting...

Only 19 weeks until "Baby Blueberry" makes an appearance! How exciting!!! :)

Here are the long awaited pictures! Hope you like them!

Well, here we are at 20 weeks!

Here's another!

Love this belly!

Wow! When you realize that you are in the process of creating a whole new person... it really makes you think what an awesome experience this whole thing is...

We also feel like "Holy Cow! who gave us permission to do this!"

Pretty nice belly huh?!

As Kev affectionately says... "Well, you're either becoming a trucker, or... pregnant!" Lucky for him, I still think that is funny!
